What This Blood Test Measures?
We analyze these 12 essential biomarkers.
ALT (Alanine Aminotransferase)
ALT is an enzyme produced in the liver that helps break down proteins. Elevated levels can signal liver damage or inflammation, often linked to conditions such as hepatitis, fatty liver disease, or alcohol-related injury.
Creatinine
Creatinine is a waste product of muscle metabolism filtered out by the kidneys. Measuring creatinine helps assess kidney function—high levels may suggest impaired kidney performance or dehydration.
Iron
Iron is an essential mineral that supports oxygen transport in the blood and energy production. Both low and high iron levels can cause health issues, ranging from fatigue and anemia to organ damage.
HDL Cholesterol (High-Density Lipoprotein)
Known as “good” cholesterol, HDL helps remove excess cholesterol from the bloodstream, protecting against heart disease. Higher levels are generally beneficial for cardiovascular health.
LDL Cholesterol (Low-Density Lipoprotein)
Often called “bad” cholesterol, LDL can build up in artery walls, increasing the risk of heart attack and stroke. Lower levels are better for long-term heart health.
Total Cholesterol
This measures the overall amount of cholesterol in your blood, including both HDL and LDL. Balanced levels are important for cardiovascular health and prevention of metabolic disorders.
Plasma Glucose
Plasma glucose shows the level of sugar in your blood and is a key marker for diabetes and metabolic health. Elevated levels may indicate insulin resistance or prediabetes.
Triacylglycerides (Triglycerides)
Triglycerides are a type of fat stored in the body for energy. Elevated levels are linked to increased cardiovascular risk, obesity, and metabolic syndrome.
Uric Acid
Uric acid forms when the body breaks down purines, substances found in certain foods. High levels can lead to gout or kidney stones, while low levels are less common but may indicate underlying health issues.
Calcium (Ca)
Calcium is a vital mineral essential for strong bones and teeth, proper muscle contraction, and nerve signaling. Abnormal levels may indicate issues with bone health, parathyroid function, kidney disease, or vitamin D imbalance.
Magnesium
Magnesium supports hundreds of biochemical reactions, including energy production, nerve function, and muscle health. Low magnesium levels can lead to fatigue, cramps, or heart rhythm problems, while high levels may point to kidney issues.
Sodium (Na)
Sodium is an electrolyte that helps regulate fluid balance, blood pressure, and nerve and muscle function. Too much or too little sodium can cause dehydration, swelling, or problems with blood pressure and kidney health.

Frequently Asked Questions
When will I receive my results?
Results will appear in the Macromo mobile app within 2 business days after your blood draw.
How should I prepare for the blood draw?
The test is done on an empty stomach. Do not eat before your appointment and drink only water. If you take blood-thinning medication, have allergies, or tend to feel unwell during blood draws, inform the nurse.
Are there any health conditions or medications that could make blood testing unsafe?
If you’re unsure about your health status, it’s best to consult your healthcare provider to determine whether a blood test is suitable for you. For regularly used medication, we recommend checking with your doctor whether you should pause it before the test.
What is the difference between Macromo and a standard blood test?
Primary care doctors usually offer basic blood tests every 2 years, covering about 20 standard markers. Macromo allows you to test anytime, using advanced biomarkers tailored to your individual needs.
Unlike many labs that only give you a hard-to-read PDF, Macromo provides clear in-app results with personalized health tips. You also get a complete health overview over time by combining blood tests, wearable data, and lifestyle inputs.
Is my data safe?
All biological samples are processed in the EU and safely disposed of after analysis. Your data remains entirely your property – you can download or request deletion anytime. Macromo complies with strict GDPR rules. Your personal and health data are stored separately, ensuring your identity cannot be linked to your results.
