What This Blood Test Measures?
We analyze these 7 essential biomarkers.

fPSA (free)
fPSA (free prostate-specific antigen) is the unbound form of PSA circulating in the blood. Measuring both total PSA and free PSA can help distinguish between benign prostate conditions and the potential risk of prostate cancer. A lower ratio of fPSA to total PSA may indicate a higher likelihood of malignancy.

Albumin
Albumin is the most abundant protein in the blood plasma and is produced by the liver. It plays a key role in maintaining fluid balance, transporting hormones, and supporting tissue repair. Low albumin levels may indicate liver or kidney issues, inflammation, or poor nutritional status.

Total Testosterone
Total Testosterone is the main male sex hormone responsible for muscle mass, bone strength, energy, and libido. It also plays important roles in female health, including mood and metabolism. Abnormally low or high levels can indicate hormonal imbalances or underlying health issues.

FAI Reported by the Lab
FAI (Free Androgen Index) is a calculated ratio that reflects the amount of active, unbound testosterone in the blood. It is used to assess androgen status, especially in the context of fertility, sexual function, or low testosterone.

PSA
PSA (prostate-specific antigen) is a protein produced by the prostate gland. Elevated PSA levels can indicate prostate inflammation, enlargement, or an increased risk of prostate cancer. It is widely used as a screening marker, especially in men over 50.

SHBG
SHBG (sex hormone-binding globulin) is a protein that binds to sex hormones, including testosterone and estrogen. It regulates the availability of these hormones to tissues. Abnormal SHBG levels can affect hormonal balance, fertility, and metabolism.

TSH
TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone) is produced by the brain to control how much thyroid hormone the thyroid gland releases. Thyroid hormones affect energy, metabolism, and mood. Abnormal TSH levels may point to underactive or overactive thyroid function.

Frequently Asked Questions
When will I receive my results?
Results will appear in the Macromo mobile app within 2 business days after your blood draw.
How should I prepare for the blood draw?
The test is done on an empty stomach. Do not eat before your appointment and drink only water. If you take blood-thinning medication, have allergies, or tend to feel unwell during blood draws, inform the nurse.
Are there any health conditions or medications that could make blood testing unsafe?
If you’re unsure about your health status, it’s best to consult your healthcare provider to determine whether a blood test is suitable for you. For regularly used medication, we recommend checking with your doctor whether you should pause it before the test.
What is the difference between Macromo and a standard blood test?
Primary care doctors usually offer basic blood tests every 2 years, covering about 20 standard markers. Macromo allows you to test anytime, using advanced biomarkers tailored to your individual needs.
Unlike many labs that only give you a hard-to-read PDF, Macromo provides clear in-app results with personalized health tips. You also get a complete health overview over time by combining blood tests, wearable data, and lifestyle inputs.
Is my data safe?
All biological samples are processed in the EU and safely disposed of after analysis. Your data remains entirely your property – you can download or request deletion anytime. Macromo complies with strict GDPR rules. Your personal and health data are stored separately, ensuring your identity cannot be linked to your results.
