What This Blood Test Measures?
We analyze these 6 essential biomarkers.

HbA1c
HbA1c reflects your average blood glucose levels over the past 2–3 months. It provides a long-term view of glucose control and is commonly used to screen for or monitor diabetes. Higher HbA1c levels indicate a greater risk of insulin resistance and cardiovascular complications.

Folic Acid (Vitamin B9)
Folic acid is a B vitamin essential for DNA synthesis, red blood cell formation, and fetal development. Deficiency may lead to fatigue, anemia, or elevated homocysteine, which increases cardiovascular risk. It’s especially important during pregnancy and periods of rapid growth.

Plasma Glucose
Plasma glucose measures the current level of sugar in your blood. It’s an essential marker for detecting impaired glucose tolerance or diabetes. Elevated levels can signal metabolic dysfunction, while low levels may cause dizziness, fatigue, or confusion.

Vitamin B12
Vitamin B12 is crucial for nerve function, red blood cell production, and DNA synthesis. A deficiency can lead to fatigue, tingling in the limbs, memory issues, or anemia. B12 is mainly found in animal products, making supplementation important for vegetarians and vegans.

Iron
Iron is vital for oxygen transport and energy production. It is a key component of hemoglobin in red blood cells. Low iron can lead to anemia, fatigue, and shortness of breath, while excess iron may damage organs. Balance is essential for optimal health.

TSH
TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone) is produced by the brain to control how much thyroid hormone the thyroid gland releases. Thyroid hormones affect energy, metabolism, and mood. Abnormal TSH levels may point to underactive or overactive thyroid function.

Frequently Asked Questions
When will I receive my results?
Results will appear in the Macromo mobile app within 2 business days after your blood draw.
How should I prepare for the blood draw?
The test is done on an empty stomach. Do not eat before your appointment and drink only water. If you take blood-thinning medication, have allergies, or tend to feel unwell during blood draws, inform the nurse.
Are there any health conditions or medications that could make blood testing unsafe?
If you’re unsure about your health status, it’s best to consult your healthcare provider to determine whether a blood test is suitable for you. For regularly used medication, we recommend checking with your doctor whether you should pause it before the test.
What is the difference between Macromo and a standard blood test?
Primary care doctors usually offer basic blood tests every 2 years, covering about 20 standard markers. Macromo allows you to test anytime, using advanced biomarkers tailored to your individual needs.
Unlike many labs that only give you a hard-to-read PDF, Macromo provides clear in-app results with personalized health tips. You also get a complete health overview over time by combining blood tests, wearable data, and lifestyle inputs.
Is my data safe?
All biological samples are processed in the EU and safely disposed of after analysis. Your data remains entirely your property – you can download or request deletion anytime. Macromo complies with strict GDPR rules. Your personal and health data are stored separately, ensuring your identity cannot be linked to your results.
